Los Angeles residents living in the 90008, 90043, and 90016 zip codes are being serviced by two grocery stores: Albertsons and Ralphs. Though their selections have kept us afloat, we need more markets in this area that provide healthy, budget-friendly options.
That being said Fresh & Easy has proposed to open a 14,000 square foot facility on the corner of 52nd and Crenshaw (where the old Ford dealership was) and their progress is being impeded by the City Council. The Council claims the placement of the markets’ parking lot would have cars facing Crenshaw Boulevard and that wouldn’t be pedestrian friendly. WHO CARES? What’s most important is that this market come to our neighborhood and provide another food option for us.
